Major diseases and Management : a) Phomopsis blight
Management:
1. Use of disease free seed.
2. Seed treatment with Vitavax 200 @ 2 g/1 kg seed.
3. Spray stem just above soil with 2 g Bavistin/Knowin per liter of water as soon as disease symptom observed.
4. Seed treatment with hot water (510C for 15 minutes).
5. Destroy plant debris after harvest.
b) Bacterial wilt
Management:
1. Use of resistant varieties.
2. Clean and well drained land.
3. Grafting with resistant Solanum root stock.
c) Mosaic virus
Management:
1. Rouging out of mosaic affected plants.
