Major diseases and Management : a) Anthracnose
Management:
1. Use of disease free seed.
2. Spraying Bavistin/Knowin at initial stage @ 0.3%.
3. Seed treatment (Vitavax 200/Bavistin @ 2 g/kg seed).
b) Root and stem rot
Management:
1. Seed treatment (Vitavax 200/Bavistin @ 2 g/kg seed).
2. Clean cultivation and well drained of land.
3. Spraying Dthane/Ridomil Gold/Knowin @ 0.3%.
Major insect/pest and Management : a) Aphid
Management:
1. At initial stage, infected leaves and aphids can be controlled by hand.
2. Spraying neem seed Kernel @ 1 kg half crashed seem seed/10 liter of water after 12 hours of soaking
3. Conservation of natural enemies of aphids (like lady bind beetle)
4. After severe infestation, spray Malathion 57 EC 2 ml or Pyrimor 50 DP 1 g/liter water at 7 days interval till control.
b) Pod borer
Management:
1. Collection and destruction of infected flower and pods at 5 days interval.
2. Clean cultivation.
3. Biological control wolts Trichopramma chilouis @ 40000-45000/ha andor Bracon habitor @ 800-1200/ha per week.
4. After severe infestation, spray systemic insecticide.
c) Thrips
Management:
1. Spraying liquid detergent @ 5 g/liter water in lower side of leaves.
2. Use of white board trap.
3. Spraying Neem seed kernel @ 1 kg half-crushed neem seed/ 10 liter of water after 12 hours of soaking.
